Reporting an error
Use the contact form and choose "Request a correction". Include the article URL, the passage in question and, where possible, a source for the correct information. We acknowledge correction requests within two working days.
How changes are recorded
- Update: new information added after publication. Recorded on the article with a timestamp.
- Correction: a factual error fixed. The correction note explains what was wrong.
- Clarification: wording changed to avoid a misunderstanding, without a factual error.
- Retraction: the article is withdrawn. The page stays online with a retraction notice and is removed from search engine indexes.
Every material change appears in the "Updates and corrections" section of the article and updates the article's modification date. Typographical fixes are not recorded.
Summaries of third-party reporting
If the original publisher corrects or retracts a story we summarised, we update or retract the summary accordingly and link to the publisher's correction.
