Controller
The controller for personal data processed on this website is legal entity name to be completed by the administrator, postal address to be completed by the administrator, Switzerland ("we"). Contact: the contact form.
Summary
This site does not use advertising cookies, tracking scripts, fingerprinting or third-party analytics. Reading the site requires no account and sets no cookies. The data we process is limited to what is described below.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard access logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp, user agent, referrer) for security and operations. Logs are kept for a limited period defined by the hosting provider and are not used to build profiles. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Swiss FADP art. 31; GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).
Reading statistics
To show "most read" and "trending" lists we count article views. The counter stores only the article identifier and the day; no IP address, cookie or identifier is stored with the count. A short-lived, hashed rate-limit entry prevents repeated counting from the same connection and is deleted within 24 hours.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address, the time of consent, the privacy policy version you agreed to, the page you subscribed from, a hashed IP address, and confirmation and unsubscribe timestamps. Subscription requires confirmation by email (double opt-in). Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after seven days. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email; unsubscribed addresses are kept only to honour the opt-out. Legal basis: consent (FADP art. 6; GDPR art. 6(1)(a)). If a third-party newsletter service is used to send emails, it will be named here and acts as our processor.
Contact form
Messages sent through the contact form (name, email, subject, message, a hashed IP address) are stored so that the editors can respond and are deleted once the matter is closed, unless a legal obligation requires longer retention. Legal basis: legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and, for takedown requests, legal obligation.
Cookies
A session cookie is set only for editors who sign in to the administration area. No cookie is set for readers. See the cookie policy.
Third-party links
Articles link to original publishers, retailers and social networks. Those sites have their own privacy practices.
International transfers
Data is hosted in Switzerland or the European Union. If a processor outside these regions is used, appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) apply.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interest, withdraw consent, and request portability where applicable. Contact the contact form. You may also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner or, in the EU, to your local supervisory authority.
Changes
This policy was last updated on 19 September 2026. The version identifier is recorded with every newsletter consent.
